We are excited that Mario Frittoli will expand his restaurant offerings with Mario Mare here at White Beach Hotel in Shimoda. In 2008 Mario opened I Sentieri in Tokyo’s Nishi Azabu neighborhood where it quickly became a popular dining destination. Mario Mare’s chefs are trained by Mario himself and just like at Mario I Sentieri, they will use fresh seasonal ingredients in delicious dishes inspired by the cuisine of Tuscany, the site of Mario’s hometown, Versilia. We are confident that once guests try Mario Mare it will become the place in Shimoda to have a pizza or paninni for lunch or to make any evening special with a perfect Tuscan dinner.

Mario Mare offers a relaxed al fresco atmosphere with imported rattan dining furniture from Bali. We know you will love our pizzas which will be delivered to your table piping hot from our wood fired oven, imported from Modena, Italy. While enjoying the fresh sea breezes and sounds of crashing waves you can begin your dinner with proscuitto and melon or a mixed Toscana style appetizer. Follow that with a plate of gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce or penne arribiata with seafood. We grill our main courses on our barbeque and you have a broad selection which includes lamb or pork chops, a beef rib eye or scampi. Delicious panna cotta or tiramisu, paired with an espresso, provide the finishing touch to a truly memorable dining experience.
